Milano Celebrates Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, and we are excited to be hosting the following events to celebrate here at Milano!

Miss representationPlease join us on Thursday, March 13th  for a screening of Miss Representation, a documentary by Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

About the film: Like drawing back a curtain to let bright light stream in, Miss Representation (87 min; TV-14 DL) uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. (6-8pm in the Henry Cohen Conference Room, 72 5th Ave., 3rd Floor)

Feminist Critique-update_norsvpJoin us on Friday, March 14th for Feminist Critique: Contributions to International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy, a panel discussion featuring faculty and administrators from Milano and the New School for Public Engagement.

About the Panel: Feminist critiques have been among the strongest voices in challenging orthodoxy, whether in theory or practice of international affairs, management and urban policy. This panel discussion highlights and debates the unique contributions of feminist perspectives in pursuing alternative analyses, frameworks, and movements.

*Light lunch will be served.

As I begin to make decisions about grad school, learning about policy & international affairs will be helpful.
