Van Jones, President, Dream Corps Unlimited will speak on “Rebuilding the Dream: Framing Civil Rights for the 21st Century.”

Through this lens questions such as “What are the biggest challenges facing our nation’s success?” and “What are the opportunities to achieve true racial and economic justice?” can be explored.

The 2015 Henry Cohen Lecture Series, Public Policy in Action, is devoted to advancing social equity in America. The series examines how public policy serves as a vehicle to advance economic and social inclusion in the context of evolving demographic, economic, and political shifts in America. This series serves as a catalyst for the continuing dialog on the state of social justice in America.

The series includes Van Jones, President and co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, speaking on Rebuilding the Dream: Framing Civil Rights for the 21st Century (February 9), Manuel Pastor, Director, Program for Environmental and Regional Equity, “Changing Demographics and the Economic Imperative” (March 2); john powell, Executive Director of the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society, University of California at Berkeley, “The Role of the Public Sector in Advancing Economic Inclusion” (March 9); Ben Jealous, Partner, Kapor Center for Social Impact, and Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, Former CEO, Green for All, “The New Civil Rights Agenda” (April 27); and others to be announced.

The series is hosted by Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy, Center for New York City Affairs, and Tishman Environment and Design Center.
