GPIA student Laura Nitz has received a $5000 grant from New Challenge in order to strengthen The North School’s capacity and permanence. They aim to do this by expanding their current 3D printing studio into an integrated co-working and maker space, which will develop into a tech incubator. The space that they’ve chosen, known locally as The School House, is an iconic 16000 sq foot structure in Callicoon, NY – the rural, Western New York town that serves as their home base. The North School is a creative consultancy focused on design- and education-driven approaches to economic development. They prioritize working with stakeholders on their community projects, but making The School House in Calicoon is part of their effort to grow in stability and scope.
